A bit about BOLD

In collaboration with Mildura Living Magazine, we work with our local young people aged 12-25 to create and publish a youth-led magazine - BOLD.

The content of the magazine is developed by young people and has a focus on our region with the premise of promoting positive health messages and early intervention, de-stigmatising mental illness, providing a platform for showcasing local talent and achievements, and having young people share their views on issues that they identify as relevant and important to them.  The magazine itself is important as a medium for young people to express themselves; however, the associated positive impact on self-esteem and confidence, sense of personal achievement, personal growth through engaging with like-minded individuals and community mentors, and social and community connectedness is equally as important as protective factors for the mental health of our young contributors.

The magazine is distributed free of charge to many establishments throughout the community such as schools, libraries, cafés, along with being available for purchase at headspace Mildura, local newsagents and supermarkets for a wide regional reach - a list of where the magazine is sold.

Each new edition is celebrated with an official launch with invitations extended to the young contributors and their family as well as local school and community organisations.  BOLD has been the recipient of a local youth award along with being selected for a local exhibition of the featured artwork and photography.
