FAQ’s

This service is for 15 – 25 year olds.

The service is totally free, and you don’t need to be on a Centrelink payment to access it.

Your first call will be with one of our friendly Support Officers who will get you booked in for a session. You will then have sessions with one of our Work and Study Specialists. Our Specialists have lots of experience in helping young people reach their work or study goals. You’ll have the same Specialist each session and get to know each other.

It’s all online, which means you can access it from anywhere. You can have your sessions via phone, video or webchat and we will send you resources and tools in-between sessions too. Normally you would speak to your Specialist during the week between 9am-5pm in your state.

You can choose to have your sessions weekly or fortnightly and most young people reach their goals in the service within three months. We will work with you to ensure you’re getting the most out of your sessions.

No, unfortunately we do not offer one-off sessions currently.

Normally the sessions go for half an hour to one hour.

As our service is tailored to your needs, it depends on your goals and personal circumstances. We can help with all sorts of things like job searching and interview practice through to finding study options or training courses. In one session you might work on your resume and practice some interview questions or finalise your course selection and submit an enrolment application. It also doesn’t matter if you don’t know what to talk about, we’ll help get you started!

Yes, absolutely.

The Service has dedicated mental health clinicians on the team. They will work with your Work and Study Specialist, and may also work directly with you, to support you in managing your mental health alongside your work/study. If you already access mental health support, the service can work with them (with your consent) to help you achieve the best outcomes.

You can either complete the registration form or call 1800 810 794.

Just let us know as soon as possible and we will reschedule with you. Please call 1800 810 794 or email help@headspace.org.au

You can share whatever information you think is important to help you reach your work and study goals. The service also has mental health clinicians on the team, so you may be able to talk more about any mental health barriers you have with them once you start with us.

You will need a laptop, tablet or mobile and internet connection for online video appointments. If you prefer chatting over the phone, then just a mobile or landline. It’s a good idea to test your equipment 15 minutes prior to your appointment to prevent any delays. Calls to the 1800 number are free, and sessions are free if we phone you. Webchat and video chat sessions will use your data. Make sure you’re connected to wifi if possible.
