NIP it in the bud resources

download, distribute and support your school community

We've created four sets of assets to help you and your school's community learn and promote NIP it in the bud! the early intervention framework. Our aim is to promote and encourage help-seeking behaviour in young people.

Each set of assets is dedicated to an area in a young person's life that may have associated stress that is impacting on them. We've also got a general NIP it in the bud poster and newsletter banner image you can use.

How you can bring NIP it in the bud to your community:

  • Select a theme
  • Print posters and display around the school
  • Send the educator factsheets to teachers and wellbeing staff and/or print some copies off to put in the staff room
  • Chat about it in your staff meetings
  • Send out the factsheets for families through your school's newsletter or app
  • Post about it on your school's social media channels
  • After a month or two- make the switch to the next theme

The order we recommend:

  1. identity (to focus on the individual)
  2. relationships (how we interact with others and its impact)
  3. social media (a daily part of our lives)
  4. future (with the end of the school year, it's a time of transition and change),

However, you know what's going on in your school's community best so feel free to use them in any order that makes sense for you.

General NIP it in the bud

Identity

Secondary school is a time for self-discovery, learning and change. Figuring out who you are can be an exciting time. It can also sometimes be stressful and feel overwhelming. For some young people feeling different may be isolating and bring up emotions of sadness, stress, or shame. Young people don't need to go through these experiences alone, it can help to talk to someone about how they're feeling and NIP it in the bud.
