Online chat: When the world around us is scary
When things are happening around the world that are confusing, frustrating or upsetting it’s normal for this to have an impact. We want to believe that our world is safe, good and geared to protect us and when things happen that challenge these beliefs it’s not uncommon to feel isolated, apprehensive or anxious about what the future holds. When things happen out of our control, it can feel disempowering for all of us – the questions, the helplessness, the lack of control over what happened.
Learning practical ways to prioritise your own self care and how to overcome negative thoughts and stress created by world events will help you feel better about many aspects of your life, including how you see yourself and your ability to play a role in building a world that is safe and good to be in. Your voice, your thoughts, and the way you are in the world all matter and the spirit of love, kindness and compassion will always be stronger than anything that tries to weaken it.
