headspace Wollongong's staff and volunteers were delighted to receive a fundraising donation for $10,050 from the Sense-Sation Events team, presented to the team on Thursday 4 May at Pepe's on the Beach.

The major donation was raised through the 9th Annual Corporate Golf Day, hosted by the Sense-Sation team at Wollongong Golf Club on Friday 24 March.

"With Grand Pacific Health currently commencing works to relocate headspace Wollongong to a larger and more suitable premises in Atchison Street later this year, this generous donation couldn't come at a better time", said senior community engagement officer, Clementina Velasco.

"Sense-Sation's fundraising efforts will go towards furnishing our new space to make it more welcoming, comfortable and accessible for young people, in consultation with our Youth Reference Group", she said.

"The overwhelming success of the Golf Day would not have been possible without the dedication and commitment of the volunteer organisers as well the generosity of local corporate sponsors, including IMB and the University of Wollongong Faculty of Business, and we thank them wholeheartedly for their support", she added.

The Sense-Sation Events team is made up of students who are currently studying a joint degree of Event Management at TAFE NSW Wollongong in conjunction with a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Wollongong.

"This event gives us the opportunity to gain real experience in the events and business industry while also supporting a cause that we’re passionate about", said current student and marketing assistant, Tamara Winstanley.

"We chose to support a charity that is close to our hearts in an effort to raise awareness about mental health in the community", she said.
