Silent Disco Recap
On April 15th, headspace Maitland joined forces with Playground Sounds and Mai-Wel to deliver the Silent Disco; an event here at the centre, for Youth Week 2016. The night included a super-fun disco run by the guys at Playground Sounds, which proved to be very enjoyable and interesting; something a lot of people hadn’t ever heard of or participated in! There was also a heap of fun stalls, including the art and craft corner run by Mai-Wel, which included hands on activities like chair decorating and postcard designing. Our nurse Sarah was onsite to answer any sexual health questions, reflecting the theme of Youth Week 2016, and to also run the condom art activity. We also had a photo booth, face painting, heaps of free goodies all over the place and a free feed. Finally, a highlight of the night was the amazing performances by local youth band Throw Me To The Wolves and soloist Ben Bradley. The night saw a great number of young people come through our doors and enjoy themselves, which was the ultimate goal. It couldn’t have been done without our amazing staff, Youth Reference Group, and fellow community organisations.
