The Clinical Lead at headspace Maitland assists in leading a multidisciplinary team who provide initial intake and assessment of young people accessing headspace Maitland and engaging in ongoing counselling, treatment and support. They develop and maintain appropriate referral pathways and work with other services in the local service system to support and advocate for the young people aged 12 – 25 years and provide therapeutic group work and community awareness activities to young people and service providers as required.
The successful applicant will possess tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Counselling, Psychology, Nursing or Occupational Therapy, a valid NSW drivers license, a current NSW working with children check and be willing to undertake both a pre-employment medical as well as a criminal record check.
Essential to the role is 2 years’ experience working with mental health and other health issues affecting young people and their families and carers, an ability to conduct risk assessments around self-harm, suicidal ideation, child protection and Domestic Violence.
Experience leading a team and making complex decisions around client care is also essential. Knowledge of best practice treatment options, support services and co-morbidities along with a demonstrated ability to work holistically with young people with mental health and drug and alcohol issues including indigenous, refugee, CALD and low socio-economic background.
This position falls under the Health Professionals and Support Services Award 2010 with the possibility of an above award allowance.
