Humans in Geelong Expo 2018

Mental Health Month was kicked off in style in Geelong on, Sunday October 7th, with the 2018 Humans in Geelong Expo.

The wonderful event saw a few thousand Geelong locals treated to wonderful performances by local dance groups, inspiring talks by some wonderful humans who call Geelong home and much more.

headspace Geelong was proud to be a part of the 2018 Humans in Geelong Expo by sponsoring the main stage for the day.

The Barwon Youth Mental Health Awards were presented in the afternoon recognising Brandon Dellow as the Inspirational Young Person with Lived Experience and Breahanna Norman as the Valued Support Person. Sally Buchanan-Hagen presented the awards and also spoke about her own lived experience with mental illness and her work as an academic and advocate in the field. Barwon Health, Kardinia Rotary and headspace Geelong sponsored the awards.

Liam O’Neil, the wonderful human behind Liam’s Art Geelong, donated a piece of art title “Who needs a hug?” which was auctioned at the expo raising $200 for headspace Geelong.

The Expo was an amazing display of the kindness and spirit that exists within the Geelong Community. We can’t wait to next years expo- in the mean-time you can follow Humans in Geelong for your daily inspiration!
