headspace Albury Wodonga and headspace Wangaratta Youth Reference Group

If you aspire to be a youth leader and want to make an impact within the community,

this is the group for you!

Our fortnightly Wednesday afternoon meetings offer an environment where you can freely express yourself, collaborate with your peers and make key decisions for young people in our community.

What is the YRG?

The Youth Reference Group (YRG) is made up of local people aged 16 to 25. We're passionate about personal growth, supporting our community, and advocating for the mental health and well-being of young people. As a group, we collaborate, plan events, receive training, and actively participate in decision-making processes that affect headspace Albury Wodonga and headspace Wangaratta.

We believe in having a good time while making a positive impact!

Why should you join?

Are you committed to enhancing the mental health and wellbeing of young people within our community? Would you like to contribute to impactful events and projects while having a great time?

We're seeking individuals aged 16-25, representing the wonderful diversity of our community, to join our Youth Reference Group.

Personal qualities that make an amazing YRG member:

What you do as a YRG member:

Attend fortnightly catch-ups (snacks included!)

Plan and execute youth-friendly events, activities, and programs

Represent headspace at local events

Sit on interview panels for future headspace staff

Participate in personal development and educational initiatives (optional)

Collaborate with local community groups and organisations

Work with like-minded young people sharing similar interests and values

Voice the concerns, wants, and needs of young people in our community (the most critical aspect!)

What we will do for you:

Provide training in mental health, alcohol and other drugs, public speaking, and media

Offer experience working within a significant health organisation

Support your skill development and knowledge of event and project planning, effective communication within groups, and peer interaction

Provide reimbursement for your time spent on tasks outside your YRG role (such as sitting on an interview panel) - yes, YOU get to help decide who works at headspace!
