Mad Hatter’s Tea Party

Friday October 8th Albany Town Square

headspace Albany, and Albany’s mental health support services invite you to get your hat on for Mental Health awareness and be a part of the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party in 2021. The event takes over the Albany Town Square from 10am – 1pm on Friday October 8.

“This is the seventh year we have held the Tea Party to celebrate Mental Health Week and it has become an event that the Albany community and services that support them really look forward to, and most importantly keeps people talking about mental health.  The event is open to the whole community and is a great way to have a look at the range of services available in the town.” says headspace Albany Manager Andrew Wenzel.

“headspace Albany, Youth Focus, Albany Regional Volunteer Service, Albany Pride, Amity Health, St Johns and Albany Halfway House have all contributed to making 2021 the biggest event yet.  The event is all about talking about mental health so we can break down barriers to people asking for help when they are going through a tough time”

In addition to stalls from local mental health support services, there will live music and Zumba for all the community to enjoy.  All activities are free for people to participate in and there will be a BBQ, ice creams and coffee van on site.

At 12 there will be prizes awarded for Best Hat and Best Costume so people are encouraged to dress up in Mad Hatter style to celebrate the event.

One in four Australians will experience a mental health issue, and 75% of these mental health disorders develop before the age of 25.  By getting involved in events like Mad Hatter Tea Party we can shine a light on mental health and start more conversations about the role we can all play when it comes to mental health, mental illness and suicide prevention.
