headspace Charter of Healthcare Rights for Young People
When you access a healthcare service like headspace, you have the right to feel safe, respected and listened to. A Charter of Healthcare Rights is a guide that helps you understand what you can expect when getting support from any healthcare service.
It originally comes from the Australian Charter of Healthcare Rights, developed by the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care.
headspace has created a youth-friendly version of this charter making it easier to understand and including both your rights and responsibilities when accessing support.

1. What does the headspace Charter mean for me?
Knowing your rights means you’re more in control of your own care. It helps you feel safe and supported to speak up when something doesn’t feel right or when something could be better. At headspace, we’re committed to making sure you have a positive and respectful experience every time.
2. What information will I find in the Charter?
The headspace Charter includes both your rights and your responsibilities to make sure that everyone feels safe, heard and respected.
It’s about young people and staff working together to create an experience that’s safe, inclusive and supportive for everyone.
3. Who can I talk to if I’m unsure about something?
If you’re ever unsure or feel like your rights aren’t being respected, you can talk to someone at your headspace service.
You can also reach out to a trusted adult if you want support in speaking up or understanding something.
We encourage you to ask questions, speak your mind, and be involved in your care. That’s how we make sure you get the support that’s right for you.
Contact us and share your feedback if something doesn’t feel right.
