Additional funding for headspace mental health services

headspace National Youth Mental Health Foundation welcomes the announcement of additional funding for mental health services in Wangaratta, Victor Harbor and Mt Barker.

$1.5 million has been allocated towards headspace Albury Wodonga to provide a service in Wangaratta and additionally, the government will inject $3 million, over four years, into more headspace services in Mt Barker and Victor Harbor in South Australia.

This extra boost means that the Murray and Country SA Primary Health Networks (PHNs) will be able to assist the young people of Wangaratta, Victor Harbor and Mt Barker to access the mental health support they need.

Jason Trethowan, CEO of headspace said that these investments strengthen headspace’s services to ensure more young people can access support tailored to their needs.

“With increasing rates of distress being reported by young people, it is imperative we are able to boost the capacity of our services. When support is accessed early, young people are best places to recover quickly and learn lifelong coping strategies,” he said.

headspace is committed to supporting young people and providing access to mental health services across Australia.
