Early Psychosis

headspace Early Psychosis is a specialist program co-located at headspace Southport that provides support for young people aged 12–25 who are experiencing, or are at risk of an early episode of psychosis. 

The team focuses on early intervention to reduce the impact of psychosis, help young people recover, and support them to get back to living the life they choose.

The service offers

  • Initial assessments referrals and treatment planning for young people and their family/caregivers
  • Multidisciplinary support from psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, occupational therapists and other mental health professionals
  • Individualised treatment and case management
  • Holistic care that goes beyond symptoms, supporting education, employment, relationships and daily living
  • Outreach and flexible care, meeting young people where they are (home, school, community)
  • Peer, family and carer support, recognising the importance of Lived Experience support as part of a young person’s recovery
