GPs can help with any physical health issues as well as issues related to sexual health, drug or alcohol use, relationship problems or feeling down or upset. Your centre may have a GP on site or links to one locally.

We are always on the look out for new members to join the headspace Maroochydore Youth Engagement Committee!

If you are aged 16-25 and have a passion for youth mental health, or are looking for a way to get involved in supporting young people on the Sunshine Coast then this is for you.

The YEC is a group of young people who help guide headspace Maroochydore in areas such as what services we provide and how we provide them, how our centre looks, and how we spread the word and engage in the community! YEC provides you the opportunity to develop skills in running meetings, event management and health promotion.

This is a great opportunity to do some good, meet new people, gain experience and boost your resume!

We want you to make our headspace the best it can be, and reach those who need us most.

Contact us to find out more information on how to join!

To make getting help as easy as possible, at headspace Maroochydore you can get initial support from a mental health worker with OR without a formal referral, at no cost.

You can arrange your first appointment either by giving us a call or sending us an email.

You can contact us to refer yourself, a friend, or a family member. We accept young people from any referral source, and embrace a 'no wrong door' policy. This means that even if we aren't the right place for you, we will help to make the appropriate referrals to where you can best be supported.

Other people may want to contact us on your behalf, or make a formal referral via phone or fax. Referrals are welcome from (but not restricted to):

  • GP's
  • School support staff
  • Mental health professionals
  • Other support workers/organisations you are involved with

If you go on to work with one of the headspace mental health practitioners (e.g. Psychologist), it is recommended that you get a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP. This will allow us to bulk bill (at no cost to yourself) up to 10 sessions for you in the calendar year.

If you do not have a Medicare card, or do not wish to utilise a MHCP, there is the option to pay for sessions which can be arranged with the centre staff. In the event you are not eligible for Medicare support, or have already utilised your 10 sessions available through a MHCP this year, please contact us to discuss options. headspace Maroochydore can still offer you free support through the intake team in order to develop a treatment plan to best support you in your situation.
