Fresh Start Fashion Market: A Community Success Story
On Saturday, 21st December, headspace Joondalup, in collaboration with the Early Psychosis Program, hosted the highly anticipated Fresh Start Fashion Market, a free secondhand fashion event designed to support young people aged 12–25. The event aimed to promote sustainability, community connection, and self-expression—and it delivered on all fronts.
The event welcomed a diverse group of attendees, including many young people and their parents. Participants had the opportunity to explore a wide selection of secondhand clothing, primarily featuring femme and typically feminine styles, all generously donated by community members and staff. The atmosphere was lively, with attendees expressing excitement over finding unique, pre-loved items while embracing sustainable fashion.
The feedback from the community was overwhelmingly positive. Many attendees shared their appreciation for the initiative, noting how it helped preparing for the holiday and summer season. Parents highlighted the importance of such events in creating accessible opportunities for young people to express themselves through fashion without financial barriers.
Given the enthusiastic response, headspace Joondalup is thrilled to announce plans to host the Fresh Start Fashion Market again in the future. Stay tuned for updates as we work towards making this fantastic event a regular part of our community calendar.
This event exemplifies headspace Joondalup’s commitment to supporting young people in creative and meaningful ways. By fostering community connection and championing sustainability, the Fresh Start Fashion Market has left a lasting impact—and we can’t wait to do it all again.
