headspace Geelong is currently offering a range of group opportunities
PeerSpace
PeerSpace is a group where young people come together and share their experiences in an easygoing environment with other young people.
We hope the group will be a space where we can share practical insights and tips on how to look after our mental health with group members that are 13-17 years old and have lived experience of mental health challenges.
It’s a social space where we’ll hang out, play games and eat food- yes there’s snacks!
The group is small, with no more than 8 members and confidential, everyone’s there for similar reasons.
Being part of a supportive group can empower you to learn more about yourself and make informed decisions about your life.
The group will run during every school term for 8 weeks, with a 1 week break in the middle.
ARCS
Adaptability, Reflection, Connection, Self.
ARCS is a resilience program intended for young people interested in learning more about managing their overall mental health and well-being. Over seven weeks, participants will be guided to explore anxiety, loneliness, managing change and healthy relationships. Young people who will benefit the most from this program are those who can identify a personal need to strengthen their general coping skills and those who are interested in building connections with others who are in a similar phase of life.
Guided by principles of connection, gratitude, empathy, and reflection, ARCS uses a variety of reflective practices and hands-on resources. The program is suitable for young people who are 12 to 25 years of age. However, the most appropriate age bracket is 14 to 18 years (literacy skills are required). If you have engaged with headspace Geelong, ask your Clinician or our friendly admin staff how you can be part of our term two ARCS group!
The next ARCS program kicks off at the end of April/beginning of May 2023.
mate space
mate space offers a safe and inclusive space for young men to get together, cook a BBQ, play games and listen to music. Taking place at Kurrambee Myaring Community Centre in Torquay, the youth group room has plenty of space for activities, including table tennis, video games, musical instruments, and more! This group provides an excellent opportunity to connect in an informal setting, encouraging mateship.
All young men 12 to 25 years of age are welcome and can join the group at any time; mate space runs fortnightly during school terms throughout the year.
diverse city
Diverse City is a program specifically for Rainbow Youth engaged with headspace Geelong!
The program covers the following with an LGBTIQA+ lens;
- education
- healthy relationships
- mental health
- Alcohol and Other Drugs
Although Diverse City has been developed specifically for communities aged 12 to 25 years of age, young allies who would like to learn more are also welcome to join.
If you are interested in coming to the next Diverse City group, please ask your Clinician for further information and how you can be referred! The program will run over a total of six weeks.

The YFC is made up of young people from the Geelong region who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of their peers. The group consists of a diverse range of young people, from a variety of different ages and backgrounds, who are advocates for youth mental health.
headspace Geelong look to the YFC for advice and opinions to ensure young people's voices are present in decisions that shape our service. The YFC organise events and campaigns that seek to spread the word about mental health and reduce stigma around mental illness. They also attend events around the region to get the headspace message out there and inform people on how to access our services.
Members of our Youth Futures Crew are offered training to equip them with the skills they think are necessary to do the wonderful work they do.
If you would like to invite the YFC to come along to your event or classroom to run an activity or share information about headspace, please contact our Community Engagement Coordinator.

headspace Geelong is one of the busiest headspace sites in Australia, delivering around 7300 occasions of services to more than 2000 young people each year.
As demand grows, access to immediate help is becoming increasingly difficult to provide and additional funds are being sought to boost our service delivery capacity.
By making a tax-deductible donation you will contribute directly to ensuring our community's young people receive timely access to the support they need.
If you are interested in making a donation you can do so online here.
