Cornerstone Youth Services is seeking two part-time Clinical Educators to join their multi-disciplinary teams, based in Launceston and Devonport.

The Position

The Clinical Educator will support the implementation of the headspace Early Career Program (ECP), increasing senior clinician support for students and graduates as part of the ECP. The successful applicant will work closely with staff in the headspace MDT (General Practitioners, Psychologists, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, and Youth Health Nurses) and a range of government and non-government service providers.

Position Description:

The Clinical Educator will

  • Coordinate student placements for the headspace service and maintain relationships with relevant universities
  • Support the on boarding, induction and field supervision of new graduates and students
  • Engage in other stakeholder engagement activities that assist in successful delivery of the new graduate program and student placements at the service
  • Where appropriate, provide task supervision, mentorship and support to the graduates
  • Assist in the application of education program knowledge to clinical practice through coaching and consultations
  • Participate and support other ECP activities as negotiated with ECP team and headspace services, e.g. Advisory Groups, Clinical Educator Community of Practice, graduate program orientation, research and evaluation activities and co-facilitate study groups
  • Provide clinical supervision to students and graduates at your program, where an appropriate discipline match
  • Provide clinical supervision to students and graduates at other headspace services participating in the ECP (as negotiated between the services and the ECP team)

Qualifications

Essential

  • Senior Clinicians with a minimum 5 years’ clinical experience post qualification in either Occupational Therapy, Psychology or Social Work qualifications

 Desirable

Current full registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA) or eligibility for full membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) or Occupational Therapy Australia.

Post graduate qualifications and/or previous experience working in the mental health sector

Selection Criteria:

Essential

  1. Knowledge and understanding of mental health, including related evidence-based interventions and clinical practice.
  2. Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a diverse range of people, in particular the ability to engage with young people and advocate on their behalf.
  3. Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.
  4. Excellent organisational and time management skills, including the ability to prioritise and manage multiple and competing work tasks and deliver to agreed deadlines.
  5. Computer skills including word processing, spread sheets and database applications.
  6. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a productive team member.
  7. A broad understanding of the challenges and experiences of young people in Australia, including specific community factors.

Desirable

  1. Knowledge and ability to develop and deliver group based skills training activities to assist clients’ psychosocial functioning (e.g. life skills, problem solving, conflict resolution, etc.)
  2. Experience in the Not for Profit and/or Public Health sector.

We focus on health promotion, prevention, education, early intervention and developing help-seeking behaviours.
