The headspace Work and Study Service is an international first, delivering intensive vocational assistance to young people facing barriers to work and study. Support is tailored to a young person’s needs using strengths based approaches to help them reach their vocational goals. All support happens online, meaning young people right across Australia can access the service.
Based on the Individual Placement and Support model of employment support for people living with mental ill health, the service targets 15-24 year olds who are looking to find, engage or maintain in work and/or study.
This is a career opportunity not to be missed for professionals who want to work in an environment that promotes a positive, personalised and strengths based approach to career development, job seeking and educational attainment. Work and Study Specialists (Career Advisors) work directly with a caseload of young people via web chat, phone, email and video chat. Specialists work with educational institutions, employment agencies and employers to assist young people with identifying opportunities and engaging in work and study.
This role works in a small and collaborative team which includes a dedicated clinician who works closely with Specialists to provide integrated clinical care. You will deliver vocational interventions aimed at minimising the impact of mental health issues on the normal developmental trajectory, building resilience and enabling recovery.
If you possess experience providing work, study and career support to young people, have a comprehensive understanding of the employment landscape, coupled with an ability to actively engage young people with complex needs, then this is an opportunity you won't want to miss. Naturally, you will demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, along with a proven ability to develop solutions to complex problems and sustain collaborative partnerships with a range of stakeholders within the employment and education service system.
In return we offer a flexible and dynamic environment where you have the opportunity to truly make a difference to young Australians. Remuneration is dependent on skills and experience, and includes generous salary packaging opportunities. This role is offered as a full time position, however candidates with part time availability are encouraged to apply.
Established in 2006, headspace is a well-recognised national not-for-profit organisation making a difference to the lives of young people aged 12-25 years. headspace enables young people and their families to access information and support through a national network of centres and services, and drives community awareness and education about youth mental health, early intervention and help seeking.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply.
