Suicide prevention, response and postvention support

An educator's response can help guide and support children and young people who may be thinking about or have been impacted by suicide or critical incident.

headspace Schools & Communities supports schools to prepare for, respond to and recover from a suicide, critical incident or natural disaster.

Currently, postvention planning is available only to Australian secondary and combined schools across the government, independent and catholic sectors.

The Be You team can work with all schools in a postvention or critical response (including Primary Schools).

Suicide prevention, response and postvention resources are available on the Be You website.

If your school is currently responding to, or recovering from, a suicide or attempted suicide, please contact your Be You state or territory manager.

Be You Consultant support is funded to support Australian learning communities.

It's important for schools to undertake immediate risk management processes, follow emergency management protocols and contact your relevant department or school authority prior to contacting Be You.

Our national Be You team are available 9am-5pm (local time), Monday to Friday to provide tailored ongoing support for your school.

We collaborate with schools to identifying mental health priorities, staff capacity building, and embedding wellbeing.

Be You offers a range of online, evidence-based tools, resources and professional learning aimed at improving the skills and knowledge of educators to support mental health and wellbeing in children and young people.
