LGBTI Awards – headspace has been shortlisted!

headspace is excited to announce that we have been shortlisted for the “Community Initiative” category, as well as one of headspace youth advocates, Taz Clay, has been shortlisted for “Hero of the Year”!

Over 6,000 people and organisations were nominated across 16 categories for the Australian LGBTI Awards 2018, so we are thrilled to be shortlisted.

headspace has spent more than a decade promoting help-seeking for LGBTIQA+ young people, engaging with them to build safe and effective mental health services. Over that time, through our 100 centres across Australia and online and telephone service eheadspace, we’ve changed the lives of LGBTIQA +young people who are going through a tough time.

In fact, over the past 11 years, more than 355,000 young Australians have sought help or advice through headspace with close to 20 per cent of those identifying as LGBTIQA+. In some centres it’s as high as 30 per cent.

Taz Clay is a passionate 19-year-old Brotherboy, who has been actively involved in a number of key areas concerning young LGBTI people and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, as well his work with headspace Youth National Reference Group.
