Help design merch for a project with The Kid LAROI

Calling young artists to apply for this exciting opportunity!

*Applications are now closed*

Are you a young artist?

Combine your passion for music, art and mental health and collaborate on designs for a project with The Kid LAROI! We're looking for four young, emerging creative artists from diverse communities around Australia to take part in this exciting project.

Background

headspace is proud to be working with The LAROI Foundation and have some exciting joint music and arts projects in the pipeline. To help fund these projects, we're developing merchandise that shares messages about the role of art and music in keeping a healthy headspace. This is where you come in! We are looking for young, emerging artists to develop the art and design. In addition to raising awareness and much needed funds for headspace, this collaboration is an opportunity to celebrate, support and give a platform to emerging artists.

About the opportunity

We're looking for four emerging artists aged 18-25yrs to take part in a two-day workshop in Melbourne across Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 October. These workshops will be facilitated by headspace staff, representatives from our First Nations Youth Advisory Committee and a mentor artist (watch this space to find out who you could be working with!).

The process will bring the group together in a series of facilitated workshops designed to:

  • Build trust and relationships – helping all involved to be comfortable with one another
  • Develop a shared language around mental health and wellbeing
  • Explore the role of art and music in keeping a healthy headspace
  • Develop a shared vision for the artwork and key messages
  • Work collaboratively on artwork and the designs

Social media and publicity

Part of this project will be capturing the process, discussions and collaboration over the weekend workshops. We want to be able to share the stories and meaning behind the collaboration with the wider community. We plan to do this through traditional and social media. We will be filming throughout the workshops, and there will be opportunities to share on camera. We will always run any content past you before we share publicly. You can retract consent at any time, and we always have processes in place to moderate comments. We want to celebrate and feature the emerging artists taking part in this project.

Who should apply?

This opportunity is for young people, living and with the right to work in Australia, aged between 18-25yrs.

This project is well suited to emerging young artists who have a love for music (ideally The Kid LAROI fans!) and are passionate about youth mental health. We are keen to hear from young people from all backgrounds and life experiences, including young people who:

  • identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
  • are from multicultural backgrounds
  • identify as LGBTQIA+
  • are living with a disability or chronic illness
  • live in a regional, rural or remote community
