Social Prescribing for Youth: Co‑Design & Model Development

headspace Tuggeranong aims to meaningfully involve young people in shaping future social wellbeing and mental health support pathways in the ACT.

As part of this project, we are hosting a co‑design workshop for:

  • school/college students on Thursday 21st May, from 10:00am to 2:00pm
  • young people ages 12 to 25 on Thursday 21st May, from 4.30pm to 6.30pm
  • local service providers and organisations looking to partner in this program model on Friday 22nd May, from 10.00am to 2.00pm

and we would love to invite YOU to participate.

These groups have been identified as key stakeholders to contribute to this work as we see them as commitment to young people's wellbeing and representatives of their local community, advocates for positive change, and the direct source of information when addressing needs or identifying gaps in non-clinical supports. These groups perspectives are considered valuable to this co‑design process and will be impactful in relation to the future of social prescribing model in ACT.

About the Workshop

This interactive session will provide participants with:

  • An introduction to Social Prescribing (connecting people to community, social, and wellbeing supports)
  • A safe space to discuss loneliness, connection, and wellbeing
  • Opportunities to share what supports work, what doesn’t, and what they would like to see change
  • A chance to co‑design ideas that will directly inform development of Social Prescribing model in ACT and beyond

Participation Request

We are looking for people in these groups who:

  • Are passionate about wellbeing, community, leadership, or lived experience perspectives
  • Able to engage in discussion and contribute ideas in a supportive group setting

Participants do not need prior knowledge of Social Prescribing - just an interest in wellbeing and a willingness to share their perspectives.

This project places strong emphasis on authentic youth voice, ethical engagement, and ensuring young people feel genuinely heard - not tokenised. Insights from this workshop will directly shape a future Social Prescribing framework designed with young people.
