NATIONAL TREE DAY
On Sunday 31 July the headspace Queanbeyan Youth Reference Group participated in National Tree Day. They joined QPRC, a range of local community organisations and community members to plant native trees and shrubs along a stretch of the Queanbeyan River.
The Youth Reference Group participated in this action as the launch of their “Climate Change Action” initiative. Our YRG have been talking about climate change for some time, and climate anxiety is one of the key issues affecting young people today. It has been shown that taking action to mitigate climate change is one of the best ways to address climate anxiety and give young people a sense that there are things we can do, separately, and also together, to work towards a better future for us all.
This Climate Change Action initiative will be continued with a range of actions and activities in the coming year.
