headspace Marion and Onkaparinga celebrate headspace Day!

On Wednesday October 9th 2024, headspace centres Marion and Onkaparinga  celebrated headspace Day by enjoying a relaxing walk at Hallett Cove Boardwalk followed by a delicious lunch courtesy of The Boatshed. Participants included staff from both centres, and 25 spaces available to members of our local community to come pause, reflect and connect with us.

The theme of headspace Day 2024 mirrored 2022’s pause. reflect. reconnect.

In August 2024, headspace Marion and Onkaparinga hosted a joint Youth Reference Group meeting, where ideas for headspace Day were discussed. One that gained particular interest was utilising the newly reopened Hallett Cove Boardwalk, a midpoint between the two centres, as a space for a community walk.

Along the walk we paused to take in the scenery around us, and when we needed to take a break.

As we walked we reflected by using bingo cards with prompts to tick off like “saw a cool bird” and “met someone new” to use throughout our day to encourage connectedness and self-reflection.

We were able to reconnect by getting staff outside of the offices they work in and out on walk with new people, allowing headspace teams to talk to local community members in a neutral space.

headspace Day was a great day of connection between headspace centres and local community, and helps strengthen the ongoing connection of the Marion and Onkaparinga teams that work on Kaurna land.
