headspace early psychosis: Meet Mikey

Meet one of our team members Mikey.

Mikey is part of headspace early psychosis and is a Youth Peer Support Coach

Here is a mini Q+A to learn a bit more about what Mikey does at headspace.

 mikey

What is your name?

My name is Michael Siciliano but I’ve always gone by Mikey.

What is your role?

I am a Youth Peer Support Coach at Headspace Mt Druitt (Monday’s) and Parramatta (Friday’s).

Three words to describe yourself

Three words to describe myself would be Creative, Dependable and Loyal.

Favourite treat?

My favourite treat is hot chips with chicken salt.

Favourite animal?

My favourite animal is my Beagleier pup Hunter.

What do you enjoy about working at headspace?

I enjoy that I’m finally giving back to the service who helped me through my journey.

How can you support me through my mental health?

As a Youth Peer Support Coach I uses my lived experience to help young people through their journeys by giving them tips and tricks that I used whilst going through my own journey, as well as being a friend along the way.

How can I book an appointment with you?

You can book an appointment with me by asking your Case Manager about Youth Peer Support or I will call/text you to see if you’re interested.

Can I book an appointment with you if I am part of the headspace early psychosis program? (if not, who they can go to????)

You can’t book an appointment with me if you are outside the headspace Early Psychosis Program but you can book an appointment with Emily Smith as she is the Primary Care Youth Peer Support Coach.

What’s your no. 1 tip to stress less?

My tip to stress less is to do what you love as often as possible, be it playing with your pet, watching Netflix or keeping up to date with your hobbies.

Tell us your fave (or quirkiest) thing to do to relax?

I am a mad Rabbitohs fan and I usually keep up to date with the news or watch replays on YouTube to pass the time.

Not only am I a huge Rabbitohs fan but I’m crazy about pop-culture, specifically the Transformers and my dream power would be to ‘transform’ into anything or anyone I like.

With so many “life” things we have to do, how do you make time for you?

I make sure that I always have time for family and friends and especially time for my little man Hunter.

What empowers you to be motivated every day

I am motivated to help at least one person in any way each day, be it in a small or big way, that keeps me empowered.

I currently run ‘Chill Space’ at Parramatta Headspace on Fridays from 12:00 to 4:30 and it’s the highlight of my week as the young people that attend love it and I love having them.

If you are from headspace early psychosis and would like to book an appointment with Mikey, be sure to let us know.
