Where will your career path take you?

Career Path

This morning headspace staff members, Melanie Hayward, Tyrone Brownley and Megan McKee attended the Professionals Career Session held at the Graduates Hall.

Students from local high schools attended the session to gain information about various careers and options for them to consider after leaving high school.

The students were spoken to by:

Kalgoorlie local Melanie Hayward Youth Engagement Worker at headspace about the challenges of living and studying away from home.

Dr. John Player Principal Geotechnical Engineer about what is involved when you study at university.

WASM Student Michael Assman about academic excellence and the associated benefits that can result from high achievement.

Ester Roadnight from the Rotary Club Kalgoorlie on planning for the future.

Following the speeches the students were able to mingle with local professionals and ask questions about their chosen career path and studying at university.

Professionals were represented from a number of different Goldfield's organisations and professions including:

  • Mining
  • Finance
  • Law and legal services
  • Health
  • IT/Computer Science
  • Education
  • Sport and Fitness

It was great to see so many young people who were keen to get information and have a chat about their future!
