Here at headspace Inala we provide a youth-friendly, family-inclusive free-of-cost mental health service for young people 12-25 residing in Inala and surrounding areas.

Our team of dedicated professionals can help you with:

headspace Inala is operated by Accoras. All headspace services are funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care. Administration of funding is carried out by the headspace centre’s local Primary Health Network, in this case, Brisbane South (Brisbane South PHN).

Mental health workers – which may include psychologists, psychiatrists, counsellors and other workers – that can help if you're just not feeling yourself.

A group of young people who help with events and some decision making at a centre. Ask your centre about getting involved.

If you live near our headspace centre in a rural area but cannot travel in to see us, you can see our mental health workers online.

Workers either on site or linked to the centre who can assist you with any alcohol or other drug concern.

Centres have a range of programs and activities for young people. Just ask your centre what they have on.

headspace provides young people with access to Allied Health Professionals and community supports that they need to develop and maintain the skills and confidence to live healthy and happy lives. We're looking for psychologists interested in working with young people to come join us at our friendly supportive practice at headspace Inala.  

About Accoras

Accoras has been delivering mental health and wellbeing services to South-East Queensland young people and families for 30 years. Accoras operates headspace Inala, in a lead agency capacity, providing early intervention and support to young people aged 12-25 years, along with assistance in promoting young peoples' wellbeing. This covers core areas including mental health, physical health (including sexual health), work and study support and alcohol and other drug services.

Our services are growing and we’re seeking passionate, experienced, dedicated contractors to join us at the headspace Inala team.

About You

We’re looking for a Psychologist who:

  • Is a qualified, registered Psychologist or Clinical Psychologist (AHPRA)

  • Has a Medicare Provider Number (or eligibility to apply for one)

  • Has an ABN (or can obtain this)

  • Holds Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurance

  • Possesses sound assessment and intervention skills

  • Provides a client-centred focus to support the clients seeking our services

  • Wants to work as an independent contractor, face to face, in a supportive and caring team environment

  • Has a passion for working with youth

Our clients have a variety of cultural backgrounds and life experiences, and we are committed to building a team that reflects and responds to the diversity within our community. We are looking for passionate young people to join our Youth Advisory Group (YAG) and make an impact in our community!

You will have the chance to work alongside our team to ensure the youth voice is heard in important decisions, all while connecting with other young people in the area. 

As a YAG member, you will collaborate with our staff to provide feedback, help and be apart of the planning of events, advocate for youth mental health and much more. This is a great opportunity to build new skills, gain experience, and make a difference in your community.

We understand that asking for help when you're not feeling yourself can sometimes be difficult or uncomfortable. Because of this, we have made our referral process as easy as possible.

If you are aged 12-25 years:

  • Give us a call, shoot us an email, or pop into the office during business hours to enquire about booking an appointment
  • You can refer yourself or family members, friends, schools, GP's and other organisations can refer you (with your consent)
  • If you are under 15 years of age, we will need a parent or guardian to consent to you receiving support through headspace Inala. We also encourage you to bring a parent, guardian or support person along to your first appointment

At headspace Inala we take your privacy very seriously and anything shared with us is confidential. We keep all your information on a secure database which is only accessible by headspace Inala staff. The law stops us from sharing your information outside of our staff unless we have your permission. Sometimes you do not want us to share your information and we respect that, however there may be times when we need to talk to someone without your permission, including if you or someone else is at significant risk of harm or if the information required by law.

headspace Inala aims to provide easy access to services for young people at little or no cost and in most cases your headspace visit will be provided free of charge, however there are some circumstances that may result in fees.  Where fees apply, you will be advised in advance and payment options will be discussed.

*A Mental Health Treatment Plan and referral letter are provided by your doctor detailing why you need psychological help.

If you don’t have a Medicare Card you may access sessions by paying fees aligned to the Medicare Benefits Schedule.  Fees may be partly reimbursed if you have private health insurance. Please contact the Centre for more information about fees.

If you don't have a Medicare card but think you might be eligible, you can apply on the Services Australia website.

Public transport is available via numerous train and bus services.

  • We are just a block away from the Inala Plaza and near lots of bus routes including the 100, 110 and 122
  • We are also about 3km from the Richlands Train Station which has a connecting bus to the Inala Plaza
