Talent and laughs abound at Class Clowns

Last Thursday evening, headspace Hobart hosted our first Class Clowns comedy workshop. A group of ten budding comedians aged between 12-25 were taken through a 2 hour workshop to explore comic writing and performance.

We were lucky to have a world class comedian come to Hobart to facilitate our  workshop. Anne Edmonds is one of Australia's most exciting new stand up, character and banjo playing comedians.

During the workshop four courageous participants got up on stage to deliver a spontaneous stand-up comedy routine, bringing belly laughs and applause from the audience! Everyone then graced the stage in small groups to perform an improvised sketch comedy routine. The performances were inspired, entertaining and very funny! Funny was the word of the night!

Participants aged between 15 and 18 now have the opportunity to be mentored for the State Class Clowns competition in 2016. One of the group might just be next talent to emerge from the Class Clowns program and follow in the footsteps of Josh Thomas and Tom Ballard!

headspace Hobart wish to thank Youth Arc for housing this amazing event, which brought so many laughs and increased self-esteem for the group. And of course a big thank you to our talented comics! Take a bow...
