What is Art Therapy?
Art therapy is a safe and creative way to explore how you’re feeling, especially when words are hard to find. You don’t need to be an artist to do Art Therapy. It’s not about making something perfect. Art Therapy is about expressing what feels real for you, in order to understand yourself, and your place in the world better.
With the support of a training art therapist, you can:
- Paint, draw, sculpt with clay, collage, write poetry, and a whole lot more!
- Use colours, shapes, images, metaphors and symbols to explore what’s going on inside
- Discover new ways to cope with stress, anxiety or big emotions
- Express and understand things that feel confusing, overwhelming or hard to say out loud
How Can Art Therapy Help?
Art therapy can help you:
- Make sense of tough feelings
- Emotional and sensory regulation
- Work through grief, anger, sadness or trauma
- Understand yourself more deeply
- Feel seen and supported without needing to talk much
It can be helpful when you are feeling:
- Anxious or stressed
- Sad or low
- Stuck or unsure
- Overwhelmed or angry
