What is Art Therapy?

Art therapy is a safe and creative way to explore how you’re feeling, especially when words are hard to find. You don’t need to be good at art to take part. It’s not about making something perfect. It’s about expressing what feels real for you.

With the support of a training art therapist, you can:

  • Paint, draw, sculpt with clay or make a collage
  • Use colours, shapes and images to explore what’s going on inside
  • Discover new ways to cope with stress, anxiety or big emotions
  • Express things that feel confusing, overwhelming or hard to say out loud

How Can Art Therapy Help?

Art therapy can help you:

  • Make sense of tough feelings
  • Feel calmer and more in control
  • Work through grief, anger, sadness or trauma
  • Understand yourself more deeply
  • Feel seen and supported, even without needing to talk much

It can be helpful when you are feeling:

  • Anxious or stressed
  • Sad or low
  • Stuck or unsure
  • Overwhelmed or angry
