headspace Darwin launch headcoach campaign video

headspace Darwin is pleased to partner with local sporting identities, Cameron Ilett and Shannon Rioli, to release a video supporting a national headspace campaign.

headcoach emphasises that maintaining our mental health is just as important as maintaining physical health. Like our bodies, our minds need training too.

Cameron Ilett has had a decorated footballing career which has expanded from Darwin, to South Australia and throughout Victoria. He has played with NT Thunder, St Mary’s Football Club and more recently with Nightcliff Tigers. In the video, Cameron reflects on his own mental health journey and experiences.

“It’s not easy having those sorts of discussions around mental health and tough times, but I’ve certainly learnt from the experiences I’ve had, that’s the best way to move forward and actually get through that period.”

Shannon Rioli, the current co-captain of NT Thunder, has played in two premierships for the club, as well as six for local club St Mary’s. He shares some tips for those who are experiencing tough times.

“You do need balance in your life. Just knowing that good times are ahead and if you’re looking after yourself and surrounding yourself with people who care about you, things should go back on track for you no matter what issues you’re going through, and there’s always help out there for you.”

The video aims to relate with young people in the Darwin region about the importance of maintaining their mental health.
