support for families and friends

supporting a young person through tough times can be tricky.

There’s no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to supporting the young people in your life.

At headspace Albury Wodonga, we understand that supporting a young person through their mental health journey can bring with it a range of challenges, and can be taxing on your own wellbeing, too.

So we thought we’d collate some resources to help you out!

At headspace Albury Wodonga, "family" can mean something different for everyone.

Family might be parents, carers, siblings, grandparents, chosen family, or other people who matter in your life.

We see family and other caregivers as an important part of a young person's circle of care; supporting connection, belonging and feeling understood, if and when they want family and friends to be involved. Family is also a key part of the headspace model, meaning that we recognise that young people and their families are experts in their own lives, and have the right to be involved in decisions that affect them.

At headspace Albury Wodonga, this can look like:

  • inviting your family to share feedback about their experience with our centres by completing this form.
  • staying connected by following our socials and checking our website for opportunities like peer groups, family information sessions, supporting events and fundraisers, and representing family voices within headspace.

If you are a family or friend supporting a young person through their wellbeing journey and would like to learn more or get involved, you're very welcome to reach out to headspaceengagement@gatewayhealth.org.au
