Cultural Connections at headspace

What is a Cultural Connections Coordinator?

A Cultural Connections Coordinator is someone employed by an organisation to build greater connections with the culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) population within our local communities.

Their role is all about building strong relationships, increasing cultural safety, and improving access to mental health services for young people and families from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse communities.

Meet Ruby! (she/her)

I came to Australia for study in 2018 and became an Australian citizen in 2022. I still consider myself Chinese and I am proud of my Chinese culture and background.

I love gardening, cooking and learning about different cultures. I play pickleball and would like to try bouldering!

I am passionate about supporting young migrants and refugees with my professional and lived experience. I understand how difficult it can be to navigate the Australian health system, and am using my my lived experience to support others in our community who are navigating the same challenges.
