We are seeking an experienced Community Engagement Officer to join our headspace Albany team. Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Working with the manager to develop and follow a 'Community Engagement Framework and Plan' that aligns with the Centre's goals and supports the integration between services.
  • Ensure community engagement activities result in outcomes relating to young people within the Great Southern region.
  • Increase local awareness and understanding of headspace services and mental health literacy, including reducing stigma.
  • Promote healthy help seeking behaviours within local networks, with a focus on young people having greater access to headspace services including young people part of priority groups (LGBTQIA+, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, CaLD, at risk of homelessness).
  • Cultivate and maintain key relationships/partnerships between the Centre and relevant services including community organisations, schools, youth centers, and other youth engaging services.
  • Collaborate, consult, engage and co-design with young people and carers (family and friends). This includes facilitation of the Centre's Youth Reference Group (YRG).
  • Organise and facilitate monthly YRG meetings, including the timely completion of agendas and all required administrative duties.
  • Manage the Centre's online presence (includes Instagram, Facebook & webpage) in accordance with headspace national branding guidelines and in pursuit of community engagement framework outcomes, ensuring all information is up to date and relevant.
  • Produce and stock manage collateral including brochures, flyers, and other merchandise for the centre in line with branding requirements and event needs.

 

About You

To be considered for this position, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, such as Health Promotion, Allied Health, Education or Youth Work.
  • Significant experience in community engagement with young people with a demonstrated passion for working with young people.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and capacity to work with a broad range of people.
  • Experience in delivering and evaluating community development projects or services.
  • Demonstrated experience in the establishment or facilitation of youth reference groups, peer support, or similar.
  • Experienced collaborator with external stakeholders to enhance impact and sustainability, showcasing clear and concise communication skills across various audiences.
  • Developed organisational, administrative and project management skills.
  • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative, and social media platforms.
  • Understanding of contemporary youth participation models and knowledge of the health and welfare issues affecting young people and families (highly advantageous).
  • Self-motivation and capacity to work autonomously, with capacity to collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team as needed.
  • C Driver's Licence.
