Established in 2006, headspace is a well-recognised national not-for-profit organisation making a difference to the lives of young people aged 12-25 years. headspace enables young people and their families to access information and support through a national network of centres and services, and drives community awareness and education about youth mental health, early intervention and help seeking.
The Clinical Advisor works across two innovative online services, the headspace Work and Study Service and the headspace Career Mentoring Service. These programs support young people in reaching their employment and education goals, with integrated clinical support.
The Clinical Advisor works within a small clinical team (with approximately five other clinicians) to support clinical elements of service delivery to ensure young people are receiving safe, effective and appropriate care for their needs. This includes direct service delivery of clinical support to young people, as well as supporting non-clinical staff with consultation, clinical decision making, managing risk and debriefing. This role also includes supporting staff with non-clinical backgrounds with their ongoing learning and reflection of clinical knowledge and practice through psychoeducation and training in supporting young people with complex needs.
We are seeking a health professional with qualifications and experience in assessment and treatment of mental health and other related issues for young people. The successful applicant will have completed their tertiary qualifications in an Allied Health discipline – either Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health Nursing or Psychology (OTs, Mental Health Nurses and Psychologists need to be fully registered with AHPRA). You will have demonstrated knowledge and clinical skills in the provision of mental health care, including completion of mental health assessments, crisis intervention, psychoeducation and short term treatment.
Staff may be required to work shifts across 7.30am-7.30pm to ensure effective clinical support during hours of service operation.
In return we offer a flexible and dynamic environment where you have the opportunity to truly make a difference to young Australians. Remuneration is dependent on skills and experience, and includes generous salary packaging opportunities. This role is offered as a full time position.
