The organisation

Established in 2006, headspace is a well-recognised, national not-for-profit organisation making a difference to the lives of young people aged 12-25 years. headspace enables young people and their families to access information and support through a national network of centres and services, and drives community awareness and education about youth mental health, early intervention and help seeking.

The service

The headspace Telehealth (hT) Service provides Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) funded telehealth sessions with psychiatrists, to young people located within eligible headspace centres in rural and regional areas across Australia.

The role

The hT Practice Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations and management of the hT service and leading its continued expansion, including liaising with headspace centres, external specialists, staff at headspace National and external stakeholders. Adopting a continuous improvement approach, the Practice Manager will develop and refine systems to improve operations and service expansion. The role will transition to reporting to the eheadspace Operations Manager in the coming months, and will be responsible for leading and managing all staff in the hT service.

The incumbent

The hT Practice Manager is an experienced and innovative professional with relevant qualifications and considerable knowledge and experience in health service operations and delivery and development. Having previous practice management experience with private GPs, allied health and/or specialist providers, the incumbent will have comprehensive knowledge of Medicare billing systems, with strong and adaptable technological skills. The role demands excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to easily establish rapport and maintain effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders in potentially challenging circumstances. To successfully lead and manage the hT service, the incumbent must have a proven track record in managing and motivating teams to deliver a high quality and effective service.
