changes to eheadspace and Online Communities

We are making some important updates to our online and phone mental health support services, including changing eheadspace service hours to 3pm-10pm every day.

Reflecting our commitment to continually listen to the voices of young people, these changes ensure our services suit the way that more young people and families are wanting to connect with mental health and wellbeing support services.

Here is what is changing from July 2025

Updated eheadspace service hours

We are focusing our mental health support during the times when young people and family need it the most.

From 28 July 2025, eheadspace will be available from 3pm-10pm in your local time zone (no need to convert from Melbourne time).

With almost 9 in 10 requests for eheadspace occurring during this time, this change means that we can support twice as many young people and families during peak hours – boosting access to support when headspace centres and other in-person services are closed.

You can connect with eheadspace via webchat, phone or email.

Online appointment bookings with eheadspace clinicians and peer workers coming soon

We will be introducing online appointment booking for eheadspace, beginning with a small number of ‘pilot’ appointments available in the next few months.

Young people and families with a free headspace account will be able to choose to book a phone or webchat appointment with a clinician or a peer worker (young person or family peer worker) when accessing eheadspace.

This is the first time that you’ll be able to directly connect 1-on-1 with a peer worker at eheadspace. A peer worker is a young person with lived experience of mental health challenges, or family or a support person for someone who was going through a tough time with their mental health. They are here to listen, support, share their own story and provide practical and emotional guidance.

If you prefer not to make an appointment, you will still be able to ‘drop in’ to chat with a clinician between 3pm–10pm.

Updates to Online Communities

headspace Online Communities are a safe space to connect with other young people, or families and adults, going through similar things via moderated text-based group chats.

Group chats will now align with Australian school terms, to better match the routines of many young people and family. This means that chats will be on a winter school holidays break from 1 – 28 July 2025

Based on the changing needs and preferences of the young people in our Online Communities, our topics will also be refreshed when group chats return on 29 July 2025:

  • Due to similarities in weekly chat topics, we’re combining Navigating Relationships and General Coping into a new chat for young people: Navigating Life.
  • We have made the difficult decision to pause Yarnspace while we review what’s working, room for improvement and ways to enhance our offering and community outreach for First Nations young people.
  • qheadspace, Work & Study and Adults Supporting Young People chats will continue as usual.

Guided Brief Binge Eating eTherapy is now online with eheadspace

We are proud to expand the Brief Binge Eating eTherapy (Brief BEeT) program.

From 1 July 2025, young people aged 16–25 will be able to complete the four-week program with free weekly support from an eheadspace clinician via phone or webchat.

You can still choose to complete Brief BEeT as a self-guided program entirely at your own pace, or with the in-person support of a clinician at a participating headspace centre near you.

Brief BEeT is a partnership between headspace and InsideOut Institute for Eating Disorders. The program helps people with disordered eating behaviours and has been developed with researchers, clinicians and people with lived experience of eating disorders.

We are focused on adapting to the needs of young people and families, and providing more ways to connect with headspace.

Whether it’s talking with an eheadspace clinician or peer worker, booking a mental health appointment, joining a group chat with other young people or families, or getting support with binge eating, headspace is here to help.

Our headspace Work & Study programs remain unchanged.
