What is Brief BEeT & how can it help?
headspace and InsideOut Institute for Eating Disorders have partnered up to bring InsideOut’s digital eTherapy called Brief BEeT (Binge Eating eTherapy) to young people aged 16 – 25 years. The program helps people with disordered eating behaviours and has been developed with researchers, clinicians and people with lived experience of eating disorders.
Is Binge Eating eTherapy for me?
Age Restriction - headspace only offers Brief BEeT to young people aged between 16 - 25 years.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Brief BEeT (Self help online)
Brief BEeT is a pure self-help program, which includes 4 Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) online modules that are completed over a period of four to eight weeks at a time convenient to you. Each module will take about 60 minutes to complete. All modules are highly interactive, featuring therapy videos, psychoeducation, personal stories and activities. As you work though the modules, you will get the chance to self-monitor, plan meals and set goals using the Digital Toolbox, which can be accessed on your computer or via an app on your phone or tablet. If you later find completing Brief BEeT on your own is not for you, it’s never too late to get support. You can contact a participating headspace centre who can talk you through the options for getting support. The sign-up process for InsideOut Institute eClinic takes 20 minutes to complete.
Guided Brief BEeT (In person)
You may prefer to complete Brief BEeT with the support of a trained mental health clinician at a headspace centre. You can find your closest participating headspace centre and contact them to talk about getting started. Guided Brief BEeT (In person) will involve completing Brief BEeT (you can read more about the online program above) and attending weekly sessions at a participating headspace centre. During your sessions, your headspace clinician is there to answer questions, discuss challenges, and work with you to set goals for the next week. They will also review your questionnaires and Digital Toolbox entries to monitor how you are going implementing the new skills you have learnt.
Brief BEeT
Once you click on the button ‘Take me to Brief BEeT’, you will be redirected to the InsideOut eTherapy platform if you are already logged into your headspace account. If you do not have a headspace account, you will be prompted to make one. Once you arrive on the InsideOut Therapy platform, you will be asked some questions about your demographics and lived experience. This will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. Then your InsideOut eTherapy account will be created, and you will have access to Brief BEeT.
Guided Brief BEeT (in person)
Once you click the button ‘Find a centre’, you will be shown a map of headspace centres who deliver Guided Brief BEeT. You can contact the centre using the contact details provided and talk to them about scheduling an appointment to discuss if Brief BEeT is right for you.

Yes! If you decide to try the program on your own, but later find that the self help pathway is not for you, it’s never too late to get support. You can access Guided Brief BEeT by contacting a participating headspace centre or eheadspace. They can talk you through the options for getting support.
You have access to Brief BEeT for 2 months from the time you enrol and you can revisit modules as needed during this time. After this time, you won’t be able to access Brief BEeT anymore. If you are looking for a refresher, you will need to re-enrol in the program.
Family can play an important role in supporting you along your journey, especially when you are learning new things and putting new skills into use. Research shows that involving family can help things improve more quickly and reduce stress in relationships too. At headspace, we use the term ‘family’ to include parents, caregivers, siblings, partners, Elders and mentors - basically anyone who plays a significant emotional, cultural, or other role in your life. Alongside your journey in Brief BEeT, their support might look like helping you with planning, problem solving and practicing new skills.
Technical issues
If you are having technical problems whilst you are completing Brief BEeT, you can head to ‘Contact Us’ on the InsideOut eTherapy platform and your query will be directed to InsideOut.
If you are having issues accessing the Brief BEeT platform from your headspace account, please complete the headspace technical issues form.
