Drive & Thrive

Drive & Thrive is a headspace Wagga pilot program designed to help young people aged 16–25 build confidence, boost their logbook hours, and move closer to their provisional licence. If cost, access, or confidence has been holding you back, this program gives you the support to get started.

We provide two free 1‑hour lessons with a licensed NSW driving instructor. For many first‑time learners, 1 hour = 3 logbook hours, meaning you could earn up to 6 credited hours just by joining the program.

Getting your licence can open doors—more independence, more job options, more confidence. But lessons are expensive, and not everyone has someone who can supervise their driving. Drive & Thrive removes those barriers so you can focus on learning safely and progressing at your own pace.

What you’ll get

- Two free 1‑hour driving lessons with a qualified instructor 

- Up to 6 credited logbook hours through the 3‑for‑1 rule 

- A hands-on launch session to learn how to change a tire and other car skills*

- A supportive team to help with booking, reminders, and next steps 

- Information about the Safer Drivers Course and other local supports 

*Attendance at the launch event is required for all participants.

Who can apply?

You’re eligible if you:

• Are 16–25 years old
• Have an NSW Learner Licence, or have your DKT booked and obtain your learners licence before the launch 
• Are engaged with headspace Wagga Wagga
• Can attend the 31 March launch session
• Are comfortable learning with a male instructor 

Priority is given to young people who: 

• Haven’t had paid lessons before (or have had fewer than 8) 
• Face barriers to getting their licence 
• Would see benefit in their work or study   
• Are actively working on their logbook 

Key dates

• EOI opens: February 
• EOI closes: 16 March 
• Launch event: 31 March 
• Lesson 1: March–June 
• Lesson 2: Completed by September
