who is YAC?
headspace Upper Coomera Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is a group of passionate young people who work with our centre to:
- give guidance and feedback
- collaborate on events and campaigns
- create social media content
- help make sure young people’s voices are being heard
If you love leadership, advocating for mental health, and hanging out with like-minded change-makers - YAC is for you! We're always looking for new members.
Join our 2026 Youth Advisory Council
who can join YAC?
Our Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is for young people aged 16 – 25 years old who want to build skills, share ideas, meet other people, plan events and lead or join fun projects. Our goal is to recruit a mix of genders, cultural backgrounds, ages, and life experiences including:
- Young people with a lived experience of mental health challenges
- Representatives from local schools, TAFEs and universities
- Young people who have accessed headspace
- First Nations
- LGBTQIA+
- Young Men
- Culturally and Linguistically Diverse
- Young people who've experienced homelessness
what does YAC do?
As a YAC member, you'll:
- Meet 8 times a year at headspace Upper Coomera
- Help plan and attend community events and projects
- Share ideas on how to improve headspace services
- Access opportunities for professional development training
- Help interview and choose staff to work at headspace
- Represent headspace in the community and at events
