headspace Day 2024 "Touching Grass

Being a young person today means juggling a lot - whether it's figuring out who you are, what you care about and what your future looks like. It's exciting but it can also get pretty overwhelming at times.

When life starts to feel overwhelming, take the time to pause and reflect, so you can find the space and energy to reconnect with what's important to you. Reconnecting with others, work, study, nature, hobbies and the things that work for you can positively impact your mental wellbeing and help build your resilience.

This headspace day, we're encouraging everyone to take a moment to pause, reflect and reconnect with something that works for you and brings you happiness.

headspace Tuggeranong Youth Reference Group (YRG) have taken this campaign a step further and have come up with the "Touching Grass" initiative. This is about encouraging young people to look at what their digital and online interests are and:

pause - take some time to find the "in real life" version of the intertest

reflect - figure out where the local option for this activity is & who you could do it with

reconnect - and get back in touch with your body & mind to connect with yourself and with others.

So, for some ideas check out:

art - reading - gaming - shopping - entertainment - cooking - AOD use

share on Facebook or Instagram your local ideas to inspire others and this October for mental health month go a "touch grass"
