Youth Leadership in Action: YRG Training Days Wrap-Up

Last week, we were thrilled to bring together our Youth Reference Groups for two big days of learning, connecting, and building leadership skills!

Facilitated by the brilliant team at Frank Education, these sessions were designed to equip young leaders with tools they can use not only in their YRG roles but in life more broadly. Across the two days, we explored:

• Meeting management and group decision-making
• Event planning and practical logistics
• Building rapport and reading body language
• Conflict resolution and navigating group dynamics
• Communication styles and self-awareness

There were hands-on activities, honest conversations, and lots of “a-ha” moments as we unpacked what it means to lead with confidence, compassion, and curiosity.

One of the standout moments was our deep dive into communication preferences and self-analysis - helping each member better understand their own strengths while building stronger connections with one another.

A huge thank you to all the young people who showed up with openness and energy, and to the team at Frank Education for facilitating such an impactful experience. 

These kinds of workshops are a reminder of just how powerful youth-led spaces can be - and we can’t wait to see how these skills are brought into future events and initiatives at headspace Marion.
