Youth Reference Group (YRG):

The YRG is one of the ways we involve young people in the development and implementation of our services here at headspace Morwell.

We practice a ‘youth-centred’ approach so that young people are meaningfully engaged in all aspects of the organisation and work in collaboration with headspace staff to improve the service.

In the eyes of headspace young people are the experts when it comes to youth health issues.

The groups aim to:

  • Provide young people with the opportunity to have input into the strategic direction of headspace services, and local youth services
  • Allow the voice of young people to be heard and acted upon
  • Provide opportunities for skills and leadership development
  • Support young people to lead projects locally
  • Be engaged in their local community

Young People on these committees will have the opportunity to be involved in a number of ways including:

  • Help shape headspace Morwell services and raise awareness of youth mental health
  • Support or lead headspace Morwell projects, events and implement programs
  • consult and assist with marketing and promotion
  • Engage with your community and participate in community activities
  • Evaluation, research, policy and advocacy.
