YRG Fiona honoured Young Citizen of the Year Award

Recently Fiona from the YRG was honoured Young Citizen of the Year at Georges River Council’s Australia Day Awards at the Marana Auditorium, Hurstville on Saturday 26 January.

We are thrilled to share that Fiona, a valued member of our Youth Reference Group, has recently been recognised for their outstanding contributions to our local community.

Fiona is a remarkable leader whose work with headspace Hurstville, headspace National, and Georges River Council has made a lasting impact on youth engagement, mental health, and cultural inclusion. Notably, Fiona played a key role in launching the YouthExcel initiative, which supports local students in developing employment skills and exploring entrepreneurial opportunities. Additionally, Fiona has collaborated with organisations such as the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) to enhance mental health services for diverse communities.

Through their leadership, compassion, and dedication to driving systemic change, Fiona has become a role model for young people and an influential figure in the Georges River community.

We are incredibly proud of Fiona's achievements and thrilled to see their efforts being celebrated in the wider community. You can read more Fiona and other recipients of the Australia Day Awards here
