More information

For most services at headspace Hamilton you do not need a Medicare card. We will tell you if you need one.

In cases where it may be needed, many young people are listed on a parent's Medicare card, and we can look up your Medicare number without needing the physical card.

Young people aged 15 and above can apply for their own Medicare card if they wish to. Fill out the Medicare enrolment form and return this form with ID (such as your birth certificate or student ID) to the Medicare service centre.

Our local Medicare service centre is in the same building as Centrelink at 258 Gray Street, Hamilton.

Please note: If you need a Medicare card and don't have access to one, please contact us and we will assist where possible.

Everyone is welcome at headspace. It’s okay to feel nervous, we are here to help you feel comfortable, safe and listened to.

Step 1 - Reach Out:

Visit our headspace Centre in person or call us to arrange a first appointment. You can also fill in an online form and one of our team will call you to ask some follow up questions and schedule an appointment.

Step 2 - Some minor admin:

A brief online survey known as 'hapi' helps us to check in with how you are doing before your appointment so as we can best support you.  You will need to set up an online headspace account to do this. It's quick and easy and we can help you, please ask and we'll talk you through it.

You will be sent a text message with your hapi survey along with a reminder message before your appointment.

Step 3 - Come on in: Our friendly team will welcome you. We have a spacious waiting area and friends or family can wait here with you and/or join you in your appointment if you wish.

During your first appointment you will have a friendly and confidential chat with one of our team to share what’s impacting you, talk about goals and how we can support you. Appointments take up to 1 hour and there is some brief paperwork to complete.

Step 4 - Match and go:

After your first appointment the team will then work out how they can best support you going forward and match you with a mental health worker in our team. They will be in touch with you to arrange further regular appointments tailored to your needs. They may also suggest or connect you with other complimentary services or a service which is a better fit for you.

Not sure what's happening? Please ask us, we are here to support you.
