headspace Hamilton is a FREE youth friendly service for those aged 12-25 years.
We acknowledge there are many things that contribute to someone's mental health. That's why headspace supports young people with their:
- mental health and wellbeing
- physical and sexual health
- alcohol and other drugs support
- work, school and study
Our opening hours are 9am-5pm on weekdays, with extended hours to 7pm on Wednesday and Thursday. These extended hours are by appointment only.
You're welcome to bring a friend or family member with you to your appointment.
If you're referring a young person to headspace, you must have permission to do this from the young person.

Services

Sexual health screenings on site or links to local services.
A group of young people who help with events and some decision making at a centre. Ask your centre about getting involved.
Mental health workers – which may include psychologists, psychiatrists, counsellors and other workers – that can help if you're just not feeling yourself.
Workers either on site or linked to the centre who can assist you with any alcohol or other drug concern.
Centres have a range of programs and activities for young people. Just ask your centre what they have on.

For most services at headspace Hamilton you do not need a Medicare card.
In cases where it may be needed, many young people are listed on a parent's Medicare card, and we can look up your Medicare number without needing the physical card.
Young people aged 15 and above can apply for your own Medicare card if you wish to. Fill out the Medicare enrolment form and return this form with ID (such as your birth certificate or student ID) to the Medicare service centre.
Our local Medicare service centre is in the same building as Centrelink at 258 Gray Street, Hamilton.
Please note: If you need a Medicare card and don't have access to one, please contact us and we will assist where possible.
Everyone is welcome at headspace. It’s okay to feel nervous, we are here to help you feel comfortable, safe and listened to.
We have a spacious waiting area and friends or family can either wait here or join you during your appointment if you would like them to.
During your first appointment you will have a friendly and confidential chat with one of our team to share what’s impacting you, talk about goals and how we can support you. Appointments take up to 1 hour and there is some brief paperwork to complete.

Family and friends also play an important role in a young person’s journey. This Welcome Pack – Family and Friends introduces those important to you to our services and how they can provide and find further support and resources.
Our Centre is located in Hamilton at 48 Thompson St, in the street section between Gray St and French St, not far from the Hamilton Botanic Gardens.
Street parking is available, along with free parking to the back of the site in the Woolworths carpark.
We share an entrance door with Brophy Family and Youth Services.
Our Centre is fully accessible with automatic entrance doors and level flooring throughout.
Accessible toilets are available for your use, located in the waiting room.
Our Centre is designed to be youth-friendly, comfortable, colourful and welcoming, a home away from home.
