Worried about a Young Person?

29 May 2025

If you're worried about yourself or you're a carer, family member, or friend of a young person you're worried about, have a watch of our episode on The Couch, which highlights people in the WA community. In a segment of Episode 802, Emma and Olive from headspace Cannington talked about what services headspace offers and what do to if someone discloses if they are thinking about suicide or making a suicide attempt. headspace Cannington has a no wrong door policy, meaning we accept anyone referring to our centre who is aged 12-25. We work with young people in prevention and intervention at a point where mental health challenges are first starting, through free events and counselling services.

It is important to look out for any signs that someone may be thinking of suicide or harming themselves. Check out RightByYou, a mental health resource made by young people to help you with recognising these signs and what to do. For example, they don’t seem like themselves, they become distant from people they care about, or have changes in their mood or sleep.
