Staff Profile: Simone
We are shining the spotlight this month on another consortium member.
Centre 360 Youth and Family Service specialises in counselling, case work and early intervention for disadvantaged young people and their families. Their services include family and youth counselling and case work, in-school early intervention and prevention group work, therapeutic groups for young people in out-of-home care and parenting workshops for parents of adolescents.
Staff member Simone works from headspace Bondi Junction on Tuesdays - we asked her a a bit more about herself.
What is your role at headspace? And what do you do?
My role at headspace is Family therapist meaning that I view the whole family as the client and work with families to achieve greater authenticity through holding individual needs/desires as well as connectedness. Families have different goals within this. My work is very much informed by Bowen family systems theory as well as gestalt, emotionally focused therapy, existential therapy and trauma informed.
What do you love about your job?
I love being able to see families talk about their strengths amidst the complexity of their problems or overwhelm. I really respect the trust families place in me to hold their distress. My work is very rewarding.
If you were a super-hero, what powers would you have?
I would like to have Wonder Woman powers but with the additional power of being able to fly.
What is one thing on your bucket list?
One thing in my bucket list is to travel to the Northern territory.
What song would you choose to sing at karaoke?
A song I'd sing at karaoke is Somebody that I Used to Know. Missy Higgins does a great cover of this Goyte song.
