Workwellness Program Shout Out
Monique Gray
Shoutout to Camilla, who started working with Connie, our vocational specialist in September 2022. Camilla had a goal of finding work within the medical industry. Through career exploration and looking at different pathways, Camilla focused on working in a pathology clinic, which offered training in a Certificate IV in Phlebotomy – Taking blood!
Camilla faced multiple barriers to finding work. These included not having access to technology for interviews, documentation and future study, appropriate clothing for corporate job interviews (where Connie supplied scarves from her own collection for an interview) and juggling job hunting and being a parent.
With the intensive support from Connie and her Access Clinician at headspace, they helped Camilla boost her self-esteem and confidence, especially in times during a long recruitment process and managing multiple bumps in the road to employment.
Camilla is now working in the medical field as a trainee phlebotomist and Connie continues to support her in her transition into employment. Connie also enlisted the support from Albany Community Foundation who have generously provided Camilla a laptop to support her in her studies.
We wish Camilla all the best in her new role!
If you find you have barriers to your work and study goals and would like extra support, please contact headspace Albany on 9842 9871 and have a chat with one of our vocational specialists.
