Access Team Clinician

headspace Hobart is seeking a passionate and motivated Access Team Clinician to join our team. Access Team Clinicians engage, assess, and coordinate care for young people accessing headspace Hobart.

This position suits a motivated early-career clinician passionate about youth mental health and collaborative, community-based care. As one of the first points of contact for a young person and their families, the clinician must build strong rapport and show confident engagement skills.

The role is 0.9 FTE (Tuesday - Saturday) and includes intake, screening, and biopsychosocial assessments, risk management, brief interventions, and warm referrals to internal and external services. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the clinician contributes to case reviews, treatment planning, and youth mental health promotion activities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct intake, screening, and biopsychosocial assessments.
  • Identify and manage risks; develop safety or action plans.
  • Provide brief interventions and coordinate care pathways.
  • Participate in team meetings and case reviews.
  • Support community engagement and youth mental health initiatives.

Mandatory requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Counselling, or Mental Health Nursing.
  • Eligibility for registration with AHPRA or membership with AASW.
  • Experience or strong interest in youth, community, or primary mental health.
  • Excellent engagement and communication skills with young people and families.
  • Commitment to collaborative, ethical, and recovery-focused practice.

Desirable:

  • Current registration with AHPRA or full membership with AASW.
  • Experience in youth mental health, community, or primary care settings.
  • Ability to develop and facilitate group-based interventions.
  • Experience in the not-for-profit or public health sector.
