Position Summary

Enhanced Mental Health in Schools Clinician

  • headspace Shepparton
  • Fixed term with potential for ongoing
  • Part time, 36 hours per week

We are seeking an experienced mental health clinician to join the headspace team in our Enhancing Mental Health Support in Schools (EMHSS) program.  The EMHSS Clinician role is responsible for providing comprehensive assessment and supportive counselling to improve the mental health of students with mild to moderate mental health concerns within the school setting. The clinician will also work to support school staff to recognise and respond to students with mental health needs.

To be successful in the role you will need to:

  • Be a qualified Psychologist, Psychiatric Nurse or Social Worker, Occupational Therapist with or working toward mental health credentialing.
  • Be a committed, passionate clinician with a proven track record of being able to engage and work collaboratively with young people, their family and friends.
  • Develop excellent relationships with school staff and independently manage your caseload
Selection Criteria Essential: All Registered Nurses: Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Registered Nurse
Essential: All Occupational Therapists: Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as an Occupational Therapist and should be accredited mental health clinician or obtain accreditation within 12 months of appointment 
Essential: All Psychologists: Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Psychologist
Essential: Social Worker: Membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and should be accredited mental health clinician or obtain accreditation within 12 months of appointment 
Essential: A minimum of 2 years clinical experience including working in mental health and experience in working with young people
Essential: Knowledge and understanding in relation to theories of young people’s development in physical, social, emotional, vocational and cognitive domains and the context and impact of emerging mental illness
Essential: Demonstrated knowledge and experience of early intervention principles, evidence based strategies and therapeutic approaches in working with young people in with mental health concerns
Essential: Well developed understanding of the comprehensive specialist mental health model of care for young people within an optimistic and recovery framework
Essential: Demonstrated ability to engage and work collaboratively with young people, their family and friends
Essential: Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to facilitate productive and collaborative relationships within a multidisciplinary professional team environment

Essential: Hold a current full Victorian Drivers License

Position Summary

Enhanced Care Clinician

We are seeking experienced Mental Health Clinicians to join the headspace team in our Enhanced Care stream.  The role is responsible for providing assessment, psychological interventions, functional recovery and family support to young people at risk of developing severe mental health conditions or with complex psychosocial presentations.

To be successful in the role you will need to:

  • Be a qualified Psychologist, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist or Psychiatric Nurse with at least 2 years clinical experience including working in mental health.
  • Be a committed, passionate clinician who enjoys working with young people and have excellent communication skills with a proven track record of being able to engage and work collaboratively with young people, their family and friends.

Essential: Hold a current full Victorian Drivers License.
Essential: A satisfactory National Criminal History Record Check, Victorian 'Employee' Working with Children Check and completion of a Commonwealth of Australia Statutory Declaration prior to the commencement of employment.
